Nerve Treatment

When we talk about Nerve Treatment; we have two issues:

1- Nerve decompression surgery
That kind of operations performed to those who suffer from numbness, tingling or even severe pain on moving the hand or one of the fingers that lasts for a few hours up to few days due to compression of the nerve responsible for supplying sensation and movement to the hand.

Nerve decompression surgery is that kind of operations performed to those who suffer from numbness, tingling or even severe pain on moving the hand or one of the fingers that lasts for a few hours up to few days due to compression of the nerve responsible for supplying sensation and movement to the hand.

Despite all of the traditional non-surgical remedies such as the use of topical creams or vitamin or steroid injections, nerve decompression surgery remains the safest and the best method to get a satisfactory resolution of the symptoms, which often recur when treated by the conventional non-surgical methods.

Although this surgery is performed by many orthopedic surgeons, yet the hand surgeon is considered to be the best as a specialist capable of dealing with occasional problems during the operation.

Nowadays the world is witnessing a revolution in the field of nerve decompression surgery, and Dr. Mostafa is using the latest surgical techniques in his operations. The surgery is performed under a local anesthetic without the need of general anesthesia. The patient can check in and out of the hospital on the same day regaining his ability to move of his hands effectively.

2- Nerve Plexus Injuries (Brachial Plexus Injuries)

What is the nerve plexus?

A nerve plexus is simply a group of nerves emerging out of the spinal cord and combine together in a certain area to form a “plexus” which act as the main center of control of movement of the upper limbs in humans.

Brachial plexus injuries are frequent in newborns when their upper limb is pulled excessively during delivery, leading to complete paralysis of the affected limb of the newborn, which is a lifelong injury if not treated properly.
